How do i take 2 objects and snap them together? I'm trying to draw out a plan view of cabinet boxes on a wall. I need to draw a string of boxes one right next to the other. I have "snap to object" turned on but if i draw 2 separate boxes and move them together they overlap and do not snap. This is totally frustrating! there must be something i'm missing because this seems like a really simple standard thing to do in a drawing program. Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice!
Using a intel mac and i have MD version 5.6.6

| A couple of suggestions. If you are using thickened lines for the boxes then you need to select them and go to the Options menu and choose Line inside. This puts the handle of the objects on the outside of the lines so they will butt together properly. You need Snap to Object on, and it will help to have a grid set also in the Layout menu. This grid should be set when creating the objects you are using as cabinets. Using these aids I had no problem placing objects along a wall and butting them together perfectly. I hope this helps. |

One of the great unsung features of MacDraft is that object snap can be used with the "C", M" and "E" keys in the same way that line snapping is.
So if you grab a handle with the option key down (this is so that you do not resize, but only grab. You can release the optionkey when you have the object in tow) and then drag that object to another with any of those three keys down, the dragged object will snap to the point chosen.
You can snap to corners, midpoints and centers. It is not even documented. |

| If you are using Metric units and you happen to have say a kitchen cabinet that is dimensioned in inches then you can enter the inch sizes in the resize palette as long as you follow them with the unit symbol (") and they will be instantly be converted into mms. if you are using feet and inches the reverse applies but you need to enter the size in meters. Ie 200mm is entered as .2m |
